Meals on Wheels of Sarasota

Meals on Wheels of Sarasota was founded in 1971 by three local churches. Our mission has evolved to provide daily nutritious meals, social interaction, and wellness checks for the homebound and elderly in our community. With our service, we hope for our clients to live more independently in their home.

In 2025, we delivered 119,287 meals to 886 homebound or elderly neighbors. Monday through Friday, we prepare nutritious meals in our on-site kitchen. Our Meal Service Program helps reduce isolation and malnutrition When clients receive our heart-healthy meals they also get the chance to interact with our volunteers. Having another person there to socialize and provide a wellness check can improve their overall mental health and well-being. For many of our clients, this service provides a safety net and peace of mind for family members who don’t live near their loved ones.
