Second Heart Homes, Inc.

Second Heart Homes is a local nonprofit dedicated to reviving the dignity of homeless adults with mental illnesses through housing, support, and love. Our work began in 2019 with one individual who had experienced homelessness for 25 years. Today, we provide permanent supportive housing and compassionate, individualized care to men and women across Sarasota and Manatee counties.

We believe everyone deserves a safe place to call home, meaningful connection, and the opportunity to build a stable, purposeful life. Our work is rooted in dignity, compassion, community, and hope.

Second Heart Homes provides permanent supportive housing and intensive case management for adults experiencing homelessness and living with mental illness. We own and operate homes throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties where residents receive the stability of a permanent home along with daily support from our Care Managers.

Our work extends beyond housing. We help residents set and achieve personal goals, access healthcare and mental health services, pursue employment and greater independence, build relationships, and reconnect with their community.

Volunteers are an important part of that community. Opportunities may include helping with home and yard projects, sharing professional or creative skills, supporting events, organizing activities, and spending meaningful time with our residents.
